Hi fellow nature enthusiasts! I am planning on doing a winter thru hike while on break from school. Is there anywhere that I can physically pick up the guidebook? Or is the only way to get it by mailing in the form? Any help would be great! Thanks!

There is no longer an EMS store in Millbury.

Does anyone know what the current edition of the trail guide is? I have edition 4 and I'm finding that it is out of date.
Thanks, dk

I just completed the full Midstate trail this past weekend. Had a great time and enjoyed the spring-time snow we got. As for a guide, I used the following and found it sufficient: archive.org/details/midstateRegarding water sources, there were flowing streams every few miles it seemed so I never worried about water or carried more than a liter. I always purified my water before drinking though. Best, Junco

I came to hike the Midstate from out-of-state and didn't plan well enough in advance to have it mailed to me before leaving. However, I called the store in Worcester directly (found the number via a quick Google search) and they shipped a copy of the book (and two patches!) to a friend's address, via priority mail. They applied the shipping cost to my bill and it arrived the next day for about $7 in postage. I definitely recommend carrying the guide. It is very helpful. We still managed to get off track numerous times, but with the guide's maps we could figure out how to reroute ourselves back to the trail.
