This is about a 5.5 mile section mostly a walk in the woods, though there was a pretty good incline for a short distance up to Sampson's Pebble, a large boulder covered in graffiti. It also passes the MidState midpoint (46 mi N and 46 mi S). We actually did 6 miles because we walked up to Pleasantdale Rd to get picked up. There were dog walkers walking about 7 unruly dogs on the trail and who passed us a couple times in different directions. Compared to the more southerly sections it was the most people I've seen, including a big group of boys with a couple of older men who were really cranking along.
I've done a few short random sections of the MidState now and as you get further north there is much less road walking and it feels more like you're in the woods and less like you're hiking through people's back yards. Still no wildlife unless flies count. I am very disappointed by the amount of trash and junk along the trail. I've seen way too many rusted appliances and tires in places I have to wonder how they got there.
