Hi All, The past few years I have been trail running all over New England and have just come up with an Idea for a personal Ultra Marathon. I was thinking of attempting a straight through Thru run/speed hike this Summer of the trail. I am assuming it should take about 24-30 hours. Has this been done before? Or does anyone have any advice on where to hide drop bags and support supplies? Or maybe just talk about the attempt in general with thoughts and comments. Hike ON!!

Sonny, I checked the website for Fastest Known Times in New England and couldn't find any reference to the MidState Trail. You could be the first. Good Luck!

Hi,
Have you attempted or completed this route yet? I am also considering a self-supported attempt (not this summer). I would love to see if you have made any progress with your plan. Best regards. -Matthew

Over the past 4 years my brother and I have run the entire trial when in the area on vacations. I've been hoping to complete a 4-day thru run before I get to old.
I'll be in the area this weekend and looking for anyone who wants to complete a 5 to 10 mile trail run early Sat morning, Aug 3rd. I'm w/i 30 mins of all points to Northern terminus and 60 mins of Southern terminus.
personal reply would be best.

Yesterday completed running Midstate both ways over several years. Typically about 5 miles' progress per outing, meaning running about 10 miles on a typical day. I'm 60, and the hardest physical day was between Oxford and Douglas because it's mostly blacktop.

Bring friends and enjoy the trail in all seasons! Please contact us about any 'lapses' in trail markers or big blow-downs or anything that needs immediate attention along the trail. Were there any sections with confusing or missing markers? You can find us on www.midstatetrail.org or call me at 978-874-5629.... Thanks, Marie Auger, Midstate Trail Committee

I was out hiking from douglas to spencer last month, and there were some confusing parts.....trying to remember right now.....I will have to get my book out when I get home. I think that maybe the trail has shifted some from the original publishing of the book in 2010(?). I heard that there is another edition coming in the near future?!?! We actually got lost a few times, but as always had a blast and had stories to tell!
I think I recall not seeing many markers in the old apple orchard....I thought we were there for along time before we saw anything.
All in all, I hope to finish up this spring. Didn't get it in this fall.

I would actually love to find other hiking partners to do some miles with. (Women only please)
