I've begun a section hike of the trail. Every day that's got decent weather and I can play hookey from work, I'm walking a bit. I'm also recording the track with GPS and posting it to everytrail.com, in hopes of encouraging others to enjoy this lovely trail. I'll post the sections in order under the general heading of "Midstate Trail Northbound". The first is here: www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=2319786The next section is 8 mi of mostly road (ugh), but through a pretty enough area. So far, it sure looks as if mid-September is a great time to start on the trail -- none of the bugs others have complained about during summer hikes, even in the swampiest of areas, and a few colorful trees starting to show here and there. If anyone who participated in the recent group-walks has advice about confusing sections, please let me know. --John

By the way, if you visit maps.google.com/maps/ms?gl=US&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=107084862472917680513.00000112ce290c8a6d911 you'll find near the top of the left-hand column is a "kml" link that you can click to save a KML file that'll show you the whole trail in Google Earth, for instance. It's reasonably easy to find tools that'll convert this to a gpx file, for instance, for use in BackcountryNavigator (which is what I've been using). It's true that this KML file documents a trip from between 2007 and 2010, but it's pretty useful nonetheless. --John

Can't someone clean these SPAM messages out of here?
I came here looking for info, but this is pretty off-putting.
Thanks.
