Greetings all and thanks for having me! I took a short walk for the first time on the trail today. Parked at the trailhead off of Route 16 and went in. Earlier I had taken a walk through Douglas State Forest and noticed that the trail runs through part of it, so never having been on the trail, I took a stroll. Although I only went in a couple of miles, I really enjoyed getting out there for the first time this year. I will definitely be back!

I am new to the midstate trail, too. Two days ago, I hiked from the hayfields on Gates Road in Princeton to Route 68 in Rutland. It was about 5 miles and a great trek (no bugs yet). The terrain changes from a relatively easy walk in Princeton (over a small bridge) to a rocky area in the woods near Paddock Road in Rutland. The stone walls along the way are impressive, and the trail is well marked. I would like to do it as a thru hike at some point, but for now, I will knock off a section here and there.
